Scotts Miracle Gro
Responsive Redesign, User Testing, and Prototyping
I worked with the Scotts Miracle Gro UX team to create several high-fidelity prototypes in Invision for user testing. Scotts Miracle Gro’s current website has been out of date. Through research, the Scotts team discovered the website needed updated pages, with more accurate product information for users, ease of finding what they needed, and a quicker check out process. Scotts also wanted to refine its subscription lawn care quiz, by updating the website’s quiz system which helped users figure out what products they needed for year-round lawn care.
Scope
Challenge: Brought in during the testing and prototyping phase to take an existing component library, brand guidelines, and Sketch screens and modify them for multiple user flows and prototypes. Maintain consistency within UI and branding, conceptualize and create new designs using existing component library and design style. Collaborate with multiple team members remotely.
Duration: 3 months
Tools: Sketch, Invision, Slack, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Google Cloud, Dropbox
Phases: User testing, Research, Prototyping, Ideation
My Impact: I worked remotely with the Scotts Miracle Gro team, solving visual design and UI problems while creating screens from an existing design library and style guide. I created user flows for prototyping in Invision, which were then used for user testing.com. I completed my assignment efficiently and within half the expected time. I was then given an additional task to lead the new project direction based on the results of the user research. I worked with the UX Design Manger to create multiple iterations in high and low fidelity wireframes for mobile and web.
“The Scotts Digital experiences team brought Gaila in for a project specific, limited contract.
We needed several prototypes made quickly to put through user testing. Gaila was able to take a mess of sketch files and make sense of them. She quickly turned around the necessary invision prototypes in almost half the time a larger agency quoted us. She was collaborative and responsive, she filled the need the team had very well!”
